HouseQuote is operated by HouseQuote, 950 Bristol Road South, Birmingham, B31 2PE. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at info@housequote.co.uk.

• Project details — the service you need, property type, scope answers, optional budget, timescales and free-text description.
• Location — your postcode, and the full project address if you ask us to arrange quotes.
• Contact details — name, email address and phone number, submitted only when you ask to be contacted by tradespeople.
• Photos — any images you upload of the area to be worked on. Please avoid including people, documents or anything else you would not want a tradesperson to see.
• Account data — email address and password credentials if you create an account, handled by our authentication provider.
• Technical data — IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected for security and to keep the site working.

• To produce your indicative estimate — performance of a contract / your request for a service. Your project description and photos are processed by an automated costing model to generate a price range.
• To pass your enquiry to tradespeople — performance of a contract. We only do this when you explicitly submit your contact details for quotes.
• To verify your enquiry — legitimate interests, so tradespeople are not sent invalid or fraudulent leads.
• To operate and secure the site — legitimate interests.
• To send marketing emails — consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

The core purpose of HouseQuote is to introduce you to tradespeople, so when you request quotes we share your project details, photos and contact details with a limited number of tradespeople (a maximum of three) who cover your area and specialism. Those tradespeople are separate data controllers for how they subsequently use your details, and each has its own privacy practices. We do not sell your data to unrelated third parties or list brokers.

We also use the following categories of processor to run the service:

• Cloud hosting, database and file storage providers
• An AI model provider, to generate the indicative cost estimate
• Email and SMS delivery providers, for confirmations and notifications
• Payment processing, where tradespeople buy lead credits

Some providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, transfers are covered by UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum.

• Enquiries and estimates: up to 3 years, so we can handle disputes and improve pricing.
• Uploaded photos: up to 12 months from the date of the enquiry.
• Account data: for as long as your account is open, then up to 6 months.
• Financial records: 6 years, as required by tax law.

You have the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to our processing, withdraw consent, and receive a portable copy. To exercise any of these, email info@housequote.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

Please note that once your enquiry has been sent to a tradesperson, we cannot delete it from their systems on your behalf — you would need to contact them directly.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
